taxi.eu and eCab unveil a strategic partnership and form the first European taxi platform. Behind this announcement, German and French leaders of the taxi industry, Taxi Berlin and G7, get organized for global competition.
taxi.eu, the app from Taxi Berlin, is the must-have taxi app in Germany and Austria, and is present in many other European countries.
eCab, the international taxi platform incubated by G7, is a leading Smartphone app in France, Western Europe and Canada with 40 000 taxis and many expansion projects underway.
As of today, the taxi.eu app also allows to book 8000 taxis in Paris, and the eCab app works in Berlin’s 6300 taxis. This first step uniting Paris and Berlin is highly symbolic, and prepares for the full interoperability of both networks in the next few months.
A Franco- German partnership, committed to transformation the taxi industry in Europe.
The collaboration between eCab and Taxi Berlin, Germany’s largest taxi company, and its taxi booking app taxi.eu, allows both companies to build Europe’s largest smartphone-based taxi booking service. It offers a compliant and safe alternative, as they choose to always operate under regulatory frameworks defined by the public authorities to protect users.
« Our partnership with Taxi Berlin is a very logic step in our expansion. Moreover, it is consistent with our obsession for quality, and reinforces eCab as the high-quality alternative to Uber in Europe and Canada. Together, we have a fleet of 100 000 taxis, handpicked for their quality, spanning over more than 10 countries and 100 cities ! », explains Laurent Kennel, CEO of eCab.
In a sector undergoing a tremendous transformation, industry leaders are initiating an unprecedented move into digitalization and consolidation. Taxis are adjusting their value proposition and give back more choice to the customers.
Hermann Waldner, taxi.eu’s CEO, is very optimistic : “This first real cooperation is going to reinforce cohesion of the taxi industry in Europe. It brings Taxi Berlin and our app taxi.eu to a new dimension. Years of discussions and experience-sharing with G7 are taking their full meaning with this operational cooperation. “ (press-release from taxi.eu)
