On Tuesday, July 12th, the innovative Amsterdam-based transport service Abel celebrates its six month anniversary. The e-taxiservice operates in the Amsterdam region and to and from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. In that period Abel has registered more than 10,000 users.
Abel (www.rideabel.com) is a taxi service where passengers book a seat instead of a whole car. Distance, required time of arrival and the number of passengers determine the taxi fare. All these elements together give all passengers a lower fare because the costs are shared. At the time of booking the exact fare is displayed regardless of other people sharing the vehicle for part of the way. This way the user is always aware of the costs and avoids unpleasant surprises. Through the Abel-app one can easily book a seat in one of the electric cars. Abel is an ambitious start-up, supported by international public transport company Transdev (Connexxion in The Netherlands). the parent company of, among others Connexxion).
In recent months Abel has implemented several service extensions, including the expansion of the service area and adding payment methods iDEAL and PayPal. In three days, from Friday, July 15th, Abel extends the availability of the electric taxis every Friday and Saturday to 04:00 pm (instead of 1:30 pm). To celebrate the start of the next six months, Abel provides free rides on Thursday, July 14 for those who use the promo code “abel-viertfeest“ in the menu of the Abel app.
