A year has only five weeks
Commentary: The taxi industry is driven from one challenge to the next. Things are moving at a hectic pace.
Only five weeks have passed since our last issue of Taxi Times and yet it seems to us like a whole year. One important issue after another appears, positive ones and worrying ones. There is hardly time to process them all.
Most gratifying is undoubtedly the launch of GTN, the Global Taxi Network under the umbrella of IRU, the international trade representation for the transport industry. GTN is the connection of national and international taxi-apps with a clearly defined quality and legality seal. With the three founding partners it already covers a large part of Europe and even reaches Canada and India. A great initiative. By the end of 2015 taxis from all over the world will be linked. A fast-paced development.
Too fast? Or too slow? Both. An industry that only acted regionally, at best nationally for decades, is now (also) working on a transnational level. That may be …
