The technical standard of taxi apps meanwhile allows detailed differentiations in the search for drivers. Providers such as Wundercar or Blacklane occupy new niches within the passenger transport sector.
For example, Blacklane has recently extended its trip offers to drivers of smarts. The company, in which Daimler is involved financially as well, offers such journeys for up to 20 percent below the taxi fare. Much to the annoyance of Günther Möller.
The head of the Hamburg taxi headquaters 6×6 and Autoruf already wanted to offer Smart taxis in 2012. However, he failed due to the massive resistance from his own industry. Now, an external provider covers the market niche. The transport in a Smart two seater became legally possible because the competent licensing authority granted a special permit.
In great contrast to the business idea of “Wundercar” which was classified as legally questionable. Nevertheless, the company cockily launched its ride transfer to private drivers that are rewarded by the customer with a voluntary tip (see adjacent box). Sanctions or a ban have not been announced, yet. Licensing authorities cannot keep up with the pace of technological development.
